This includes managing and supporting the highly qualified and experienced staff and volunteers to ensure the effective delivery of services that meet the needs and expectations of the people we support and their families.

Caroline is the ICPO Administrator. She works closely with the Coordinator and manages the ICPO office

Catherine leads ICPO policy and information work. She supports Irish people in prison in European Union countries and their families.

Ciara leads on ICPO’s Family Support work including organising family events and supporting families with loved ones in prison in the UK. Ciara also provides casework support to ICPO clients in South and Central America, Africa and Asia as well as Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Hilary is the ICPO caseworker covering North America, Australia and New Zealand. Hilary’s role also involves developing and fostering relations with Irish welfare organisations, Irish Embassies and Consulates and other relevant agencies as well as providing yearly visits to Irish people in prison in her area.
Volunteers
The ICPO team is supported by four part-time volunteers who assist with various tasks such as administration, organising the family information day, casework support, research, the database, the hardship fund, managing accounts, the Penfriend Scheme and the ICPO Newsletter. The ICPO also has over 40 penfriend volunteers who write regularly to a number of our clients. We also partner with other organisations and missions around the world who volunteer to visit our clients in various regions, especially the regions that are furthest away.
We are extremely grateful for the on-going support of our committed team of volunteers:
- Eileen Boyle
- Harry Carberry
- Joan O’Cleirigh
- Betty Wilson
Eileen who has volunteered with ICPO for over 20 years describes her experience:
“As well as general administration work, we each have different areas that we take responsibility for. We assist with the organisation of the Family Information Day, coordinate the Penfriend Scheme, manage the accounts and compile the newsletter (ICPO NEWS). We all come together on mail out days, which is when it is time to send the newsletters and cards to our clients and friends.
ICPO is a most pleasant place to work (which may explain why some of us are here for over 20 years). We each volunteer two days a week and it is such a pleasure to come in and work with the team where the atmosphere is friendly, caring and supportive.
